Bedbugs are flat-looking when not fed. However, when a bed bug consumes a meal of blood, it bloats. The abdomen swells to consume as much blood as possible. If you crush a recently fed bloated bed bug, it will leave a large bloodstain. However, as you slowly digest your food, there will be less blood to come out. Bedbugs don’t stay bloated for long after feeding. They begin the digestion process immediately.
